Chalcedony is a mineral of silica, before it was considered a variety of quartz, currently it is considered a mixture of quartz with moganite.

The chalcedony is formed from the precipitation of silicates in groundwater or on the earth's surface.

Precipitation of silicates can be caused by the interaction of groundwater with silica-rich rocks or by direct precipitation of silicates dissolved in groundwater.

The chalcedony is deposited on the surface of the rock or in underground cavities, forming nodes, needles or masses.

Chalcedony occurs in a wide variety of colors, including white, gray, brown, green, and purple, depending on the presence of other minerals< /strong> and elements in the mineralized solution.
