Mica- fuchsite

ETYMOLOGY: MICA = comes from the latin mica ( "Crumb"), perhaps because of the inclusions. FUCHSITE = the German mineralogist J. N. von Fuchs.

MINERALOGY: The micas are mineral belonging to a large group of alumina silicates, iron, calcium, magnesium and alkaline minerals characterized by their easy peel into thin flexible, elastic and very bright sheets, found in igneous rocks and rocks metamorphic, the fuchsite is a variety of green moscowite for its high chromium content, presented in sheets of hexagonal shape, it originates in metamorphic rocks such as gneisses, slates, mica schist, hornfels.

MYTHOLOGY: The Mica fuchsite, it belongs to the group of micas, which are among the most abundant minerals constitute 3.8% of the weight of the earth's crust. It is the most common mica, after the Muscovite variety. It was first described in Tirol, Austria, where mineralogist J. N. von Fuchs, put the name of fuchsite, also known as Green Muscovite.
