ETIMOLOGY: It comes from the Greek word "kristallos" meaning ice and "Hard" in Slavic.

CRYSTAL SYSTEMTrigonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Silicates (tectosilicates)

CHEMICAL FORMULA MINERAL ELEMENTS: SiO2.

HARDNESS: 7 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Brazil, Austria (Salzburg), Scandinavia, South Africa, USA (Virginia).

 


MINEROLOGY: Quartz aggregate coarse and cloudy blue color, blue color is due to inclusions of crocidolite needles (Crocidolite or blue asbestos is a fibrous variety of riebeckite that this is a group of mineral silicates).
