ETYMOLOGY: The "agate" name comes from the river Achates (Dirillo currently located south of Sicily, Italy), where Plinio found the first agates. MOSS: For its moss-like inclusions.

MINERALOGY: It belongs to the family of chalcedony, from dense solutions of silicic acid in which iron silicate solutions without intermixing infiltrate. Thus, a Chalcedony containing inclusions moss green threadlike and fluted forms.
MYTHOLOGY: Because of its plant-like appearance is said to reinforce the love of nature, the ancient farmers used it for improved crops. Midwives moss agate used since they believed that glass is a hometown and helped in its work by reducing labor pain and ensuring a smooth delivery.
