Green aventurine

ETYMOLOGY: It comes from the Italian venture, which means "random". It is an allusion to the chance discovery of a synthetic crystal aventurine.

MINERALOGY: Aventurine is a compact quartz whose green appearance is caused by inclusions platelet green fuchsite (mica chromium) is formed in magmatitas (Magma = mass of molten rock) sediments and crystalline slates (Rock of metamorphic origin very fine grain dark color laminated structure).

 

MYTHOLOGY: The adventure is known by this name since the XVII century by the Italian expression "a ventura" (random), which relates to the discovery by chance of synthesis or goldstone aventurine glass, artificial stone aventurina very similar to then. It is also believed the distribution of "random" manner of small mica sheets containing it. Other names for the aventurina are prase, which comes from the Greek prasos (leek), concerning their green color, or simply, green quartz.
