Phantom Quartz

ETYMOLOGY: QUARTZ = comes from the Greek word "kristallos" meaning ice and "Hard" in Slavic. GHOST = Inside carries one or more crystals not very sharp in training like a "ghost".

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Trigonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Oxides, quartz group.

MINERAL ELEMENTS CHEMICAL FORMULA: SiO2.

HARDNESS: 7 on the Mohs scale.

MINERALOGY: It is called quartz phantom when gas bubbles or tiny crystals of other minerals in the completion of a quartz crystal during its development, the glass color subtly changes accumulate. This can happen in several stages leaving a "footprint" or "ghost" at the end of each tip. Some have occupied the points resembling pyramids of crystals (phantoms) and some may just have the material included within bubbles. The most common inclusions are black, green, brown and white.

 

MYTHOLOGY: American shamans call the ghost quartz, the quartz THAT BORN, the holistic therapists in South America call QUARTZ ETHERIC.
