ETYMOLOGY: The name of Jacinto de Compostela is because the pilgrims gathered in the Camino de Santiago and even sold as souvenirs in Santiago de Compostela, where there is this variety of quartz.

MINERALOGY:The origin is hydrothermal and sedimentary and usually has added matrices red gypsum, calcite or halite (rock salt), as quartz which is the chemical formula SiO2 (silicic anhydride), with a 46.7% silica and 53.3% oxygen, with inclusions of hematite (iron oxide). Keep in mind that the quartz, in all its varieties, is an essential component of many types of rock, especially the acid igneous rocks, why it is so common and abundant, but also in sedimentary and metamorphic rocks to be the extremely rugged. MYTHOLOGY:The origin of the jacinto is very old and formed in the Triassic (170 to 195 years ago or so). In Rome it was used as an;amulet to bring good luck, this practice has its origin possibly of peregrinación. Jacinto was highly esteemed by the Greeks and it was they who gave this name for its blood red in line with the myth that gave name also a flower.
