Calcite geode - Crystallized mineral
40 years of history Crystals-Rock Shop at the center of Barcelona and online

Calcite geodes are spherical or sub-spherical structures that form when calcium accumulates inside a cavity in a rock. Calcite it is a common mineral found in a variety of forms in nature, including geodes.

The formation process of a calcite geode begins with the presence of a cavity in a rock, which can be caused by erosion or the action of groundwater.
The calcite, which is present in solution in groundwater, begins to precipitate in the cavity, forming a layer of mineral on the walls and bottom.
With Over time, this layer continues to grow, until a solid geode is formed.

The size and shape of the calcite geode depend on several factors, such as the rate of precipitation of the calcite, the amount of calcite available and the rate at which the cavity expands.
Some calcite geodes can be very large and contain giant calcite crystals, while others they are small and have smaller crystals.

Approximate size (width x depth x height): 4,7 x 3,3 x 3,7 cm.
