Dumorterite is a mineral of the silicate family. It is composed of hydrated aluminosilicate and is found in colors ranging from blue to violet and brown. The mineral is named after its discoverer, the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier.

Dumorterite is found primarily in igneous and metamorphic rocks, and has been found in several countries around the world, including France, Madagascar, Brazil, United States and Namibia.
