Larvikite

ETYMOLOGY: It comes from the town of Norway (Larvik).

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Different structures.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Silicates, feldspar family.

CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS: (Na, K) AlSi3O8.

HARDNESS: 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Finland, Ukraine, India, America, Canada.

 

MINERALOGY: Intrusive igneous rock consisting mainly of coarse feldspars having blue schellerización. The ferromagnesium minerals appear as lumps, and consist of titaniferous augite, olivine iron, apatite, biotite and magnetite


MYTHOLOGY: The larvikite was first described in 1890 by Brogger to an outcrop Larvik district, in the south of Norway.


PROPERTIES: The larvikite helps balance and neutralize the emotions and to understand and solve difficult situations. It is known as the stone of courage and modesty, also it brings wisdom and generosity to share it.
