ETYMOLOGY: The name is because of the discoverer Sid Pieters who discovered it in 1962 in Namibia.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Trigonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Secondary.

CLASS MINERAL: Oxides, quartz group

CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS: SiO2 + Na2 (Mg, Fe, Al) 5 (OH / Si4O11) 2.

HARDNESS:  7 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Namibia, China.

 
 

MINERALOGY: The rock is composed primarily of crocidolite that was subjected to a process of tectonic gap, rock eye mother hawk was fragmented by orogenic forces then pasted quartz, so this stone contains Hawkeye, tiger eye and jasper, shows a variegated design crocidolite fibers.

 

MYTHOLOGY: The pietersita was recently found for the first time in the desert of Namibia and is named after its discoverer Sid Pieters in 1962. The African Pietersita is the most sought after because of its wide range of colors. Colors include various blues, golds and reds, which can occur together or separately. Blue is the rarest color, followed by red. Chinese Pietersita said that was discovered in 1993, but did not reach the market until 1997.
