Prehnite is a mineral of pale green to yellow-green color, known for its translucent appearance and vitreous luster. It was discovered in South Africa in the 18th century and is named in honor of Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who identified it. Prehnite often forms botryoidal aggregates or masses rather than well-defined crystals, giving it a soft and attractive appearance.
