Doubly Terminated Quartz
MASTER QUARTZ DOUBLE-TERMINATED
Are you looking for a piece that helps you balance what you give and what you receive?
This isn't just a quartz. It's a crystal that, by having no single direction, reminds you that energy always flows both ways.
🔍 How to recognise it
To identify a Master Quartz Double-Terminated, look for this natural gesture in the stone:
- It shows a well-defined point at each of its ends.
- Neither end shows a flat base or attachment point.
- The central body is usually narrower than in a single-terminated quartz.
- Both terminations can be symmetrical or slightly different in size.
- The prismatic faces connect both points continuously.
Unlike a common quartz, which has a base where it was once attached to the rock, here neither end shows that anchor point: the crystal grew complete in both directions.
🌍 Mineralogical nature
What it actually is
The so-called "Master Quartz Double-Terminated" isn't a distinct species: it's a quartz that develops a point at each end, instead of a single termination with an attachment base.
It's worth knowing this shape can have two different origins: some double-terminated quartz forms this way entirely naturally, while others are single-terminated quartz that, through cutting and polishing, have been given a second termination artificially.
How it forms
In its natural form, this happens when the crystal grows free within a soft matrix—such as clay or sediment—rather than being attached to a host rock. With no anchored end, both sides of the crystal have room to develop their own termination.
When it's a worked piece, a lapidary cuts and polishes the end opposite the original point, also shaping it into a pyramid to visually replicate the natural effect.
- Free growth of the crystal, without attachment to a host rock (natural origin).
- Enough space at both ends to develop their own points.
- Skilled cutting and polishing of the opposite end (in worked pieces).
In practical terms, it's a shape nature can produce on its own under the right conditions, and which can also be reproduced through careful lapidary work.
🧠 Psychological approach
On a mental level, having a point at each end removes the idea of a single direction. It helps the brain understand that giving and receiving aren't opposite processes, but part of the same continuous flow.
🕰 When it can be useful
- When you need to balance your energy in both directions.
- When you feel you're giving more than you're receiving (or the other way round).
- When you're looking to let go of excess to make room for what's lacking.
- When you're working on a relationship or bond that requires reciprocity.
👉 It's valuable when you need to remember: "I can give and receive at the same time, without one taking away from the other".
🧘 How to work with it
- Hold it with one point towards each hand, feeling the flow between them.
- Place it between you and another person during an important conversation.
- Use it as a physical reminder of reciprocity in your relationships.
👉 A key gesture: Notice how neither point is "the main one". Both directions matter equally.
